(Downey, CA) Days leading up to the Formula Drift Round 1 at Long Beach, CA, the organizers of the event invited the Hankook Tire / JIC USA drift team to visit the local elementary school in Long Beach to stir up interest for the motorsport with the youth. Both Kenji Yamanaka and Tyler McQuarrie made their way out to these schools with the Nissan S14 to talk about drifting, the way the motorsport is done, and lastly, giving the principal of the schools a ride in the S14.
Students from three elementary schools had a chance to meet with both Kenji and Tyler and both of them gave the chance to the students to ask questions. In addition, Kenji and Tyler gave away Hankook Tire promotional items as prizes to those who were able to answer questions about drifting, the cars, and other facts.
At the end of their stay, the kids were given a chance to come up to the car and see it up close. JIC USA is always proud to give back to the community and promote the motorsport lifestyle to any age group as the younger age group is the future of the sport.
